I'm amazed on how thick the plastic is. I used it on a 4 inch thick twin XL mattress topper. I believe a shop vac would get more air out but my stand up $60 vacuum did good. Standing the mattress or topper on its edge and sliding the bag over helps big time.

I bought this because I had to move the mattress urgently. It only took a little time to remove the air from the plastic pack. About five minutes later, all the air escaped from the plastic pack. I rolled the mattress around and loaded it into the car, and then I could easily move. The plastic is thick, so it does not leak and is not perfect, but it is worth buying and using. I think this plastic pack can be folded well and used several times.
