Hob - From Ambient - Stove Top. 1. Slowly stir grits and salt into briskly boiling water. 2. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover. Cook 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Microwave - From Ambient - (1 Serving). 1. Combine water, grits and salt in 2 cup microwave-safe bowl; stir. 2. Microwave on High 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened when stirred. I LOVE GRITS! But I was taken aback when I read the ingredients on the back of two different Grits boxes sold by Walmart!!! One says it has CHICKEN BREAST MEAT a bunch of other stuff, and the other has the genuine ingredients for corn harvested Grits! WHAT'S GOING ON? Chicken Breast Meat? YUCK....

My mom said it was my first solid food and to this day I consider it a staple in my pantry. I eat it the southern way, with butter, of course!
