Quality oats at reasonable price
It's so convenient to have this large container of oats in my pantry. It is not only cheaper than smaller containers, but I can have premium oats at the price of cheaper oats. I also don't have to concern myself about going out in bad weather...I can have it delivered to my door.

Product is great, deliery is terrible

The stars above are for the product, the oats are great, we have been using this product for a very long time. However the deliery service was very bad, the boxes arrived opened with loose oats all over the larger container that was used for shipping the 12 boxes of oats that I ordered. I order products for my parents that live in a different state. My intention is to provide them with products that they use that can be conveniently delivered to their home. I send them products from different stores and have been very disapointed with the delivery service that Wallmart uses, it is very frequently that the product arrives damaged. The local store has been very good at taking the product back and replacing it, or in this case because they didn't have the same product gave them a gift card. But, my entire intention of providing them with products delivered to their door was broken :(

Great Product

Not a lot I can say about this product except the price is good, the product is quality which I think most everyone knows since Quaker has been marketing oats since I can remember and beyond. The product arrived in perfect condition and was shipped along with quite a few other products which consisted mostly of box'd food items. Mostly I purchase these Quaker old fashion brand oats for baking...such as cookies.

For my Health!

I make batches of oatmeal to eat for breakfast at work two or three times a week. I cook two bowls worth with milk and a little salt and then reconstitute it in the microwave at work. I use almond/coconut milk when I reheat the oatmeal and it is delicious. I exercise every day and I believe my oatmeal breakfast fortifies me on the inside to get fit and stronger. I recommend a spoonful of almond butter and Wee Bee honey to make it sweet and satisfying.

Old Fashioned Goodness

I like this economy size. My chickens also like a warm bowl of cooked oats on a cold winter's morning. This product stays fresh for a good long time so I always buy several. I find the whole oats more filling than the quick oats and less soupy. I cook a bowl of oats covered with water, add brown sugar and a pat of butter and microwave for 2 minutes. It's the best fast and easy breakfast!

5. These are Steel Cut Oats that have been precooked, so you have a faster cooking time. I like the 30 minute Steel Cut Oats better as I use the following method and don't have to watch them to make sure they don't over cook. I bring water to a boil in the microwave, pour the boiling water over the Steel Cut Oats which I added cinnamon to and stir. Place a tight fitting lid on the pot and leave overnight. In the morning you will have cooked Steel Cut Oats. Some people may say this is not firm enough for them. If you are afraid of this only leave the oats in the water for a few hours checking after every hour until it is the consistency you like. Place in a tightly covered dish in the icebox and they are good for about 4-5 days. Already cooked and ready to be heated and eaten when you are in a hurry. You can also put them in a thermos with hot water and leave to cook.

1. I haven't tried cooking it on microwave I usually eat it uncooked in shakes
by BusymomSeptember 29, 2015
2. there are some steel cut varieties that work in the microwave, but I have not liked them. I think the way to go with these is on the stove top and that means the wait time. I find it's worth the wait though...
by An anonymous customer
3. I cook my steel cut oatmeal the night before I serve it. I use one cup of oats and four cups of water and bring to a boil. I simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. I package in small dishes and microwave to reheat in the morning. You could easily reheat on the stove top. I consider this to be a very healthy breakfast.

4. I cook six servings at a time on top of the range. I pour the cooked oats in single serving containers. Then I store the cooked oats congeal in the refrigerator. When I want to eat one, I simply take it out of the frig, plop it in a microwavable bowl and zap it for two minutes. The process of cooking the oats in a large batch and then microwaving it as needed works for me on busy mornings. I only have microwaved the instant oats which was a messy and they did not taste as good as the slow cooked ones.

5. I tried to microwave them but did not like the result, very rubbery. Best to cook them on the stove. Or put them in the crock pot on low overnight, use a crock pot liner much easier clean up. put the leftovers in individual size containers in the refrig, they will keep several days, then reheat in micro.

6. No, the oats should be prepared on the stovetop.
