As puppies near adulthood, their calorie needs may drop, and your puppy may begin leaving some food in the bowl. Don't misinterpret this as an indication of dislike for the food. Instead, begin offering less so your puppy doesn't overeat and stays in ideal body condition. Feeding for Reproduction: Pro Plan provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's ideal body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation. Nestle Purina research indicates that avoiding overfeeding of puppies may help their development. Maintaining ideal body condition is key to encouraging proper growth in all puppies, especially large breeds. The indicated amounts are only a guideline. If your puppy becomes overweight a reduction of your puppy's daily food intake may be appropriate. You may wish to consult your veterinarian about a weight control program. I saw this kibble was rated as very good for puppies. I started with a smaller bag for a test. My Labradoodle gets three small meals a day %26 she loves this. It's for puppies under a year. Since it's a lot, I store it in a garbage can and transfer to a smaller container in the kitchen to keep it fresh

The Best Food Possible for My Boy!
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I find that with this blend, my puppy is alert, focused and is "growing like there is no tomorrow!" I like the shredded blend because one can see that there is real chicken in it and my pup cannot wait until mealtime. This blend is not hard to digest nor does it create a smell on his breath. I love the fact that my pup can barely wait until I put his dish down.

My 6 month old doodle is eating a mixture of this and the pro plan lamb for puppies. His delicate Doodle tummy handles it really well and he seems to like the flavor. Dog food is just expensive in general if you want quality but this one is pretty affordable compared to other brands of the same quality.
