Tripp Lite Doing What is Says it does.

Bought this last week right after purchasing a new AC window unit. I bought it to protect the AC from the brownouts the NYC Power company Con Edison has been implementing during periods of high demand. Con Ed is no longer able to provide adequate power during these periods. Brownout damage to compressors is something I just learned about last year. I lost a 6 yr Friedrich unit due to a brownout. I connected the Tripp Lite to the wall outlet and to the AC unit as soon as I received it. All was working well. Then this past week in NYC the temps hit a daytime high of 106 degrees. And night time was still 100! I heard the Tripp lite click about 1 AM and then it showed the yellow light which stayed on all night till 6AM. The yellow light signifies that there's too low voltage coming into the house (brownout.) It also means the Tripp was doing the job of stepping up the voltage to the AC unit to safe levels. I had cool air all night. With no damage to the AC. Had I not had the Tripp Lite it's probable I wouldn't have known there was reduced voltage and would have run the AC to stay cool. But that would've caused damage to a brand new and expensive AC. Since then the green light has been constantly lit so all is normal. I'm protected should there be another brownout all summer. While these voltage regulators are not cheap, they prove their worth in these circumstances. This one is made by Eaton; a huge well known electrical supply and manufacturing company. The Tripp Lite did it's job and as long as it continues, I give it 5 stars

Will most likely buy a second one!

Using this to protect some very sensitive older computer hardware in a neighborhood with a flaky, old power grid, that is, random power outages at any time of day or night. I don't actually need a UPS, just something that will mitigate brown outs, surges, off-on cycling, etc.

Another Tripp-Lite Purchase

I had an LC600 for 21+ years of dependable service... but of course nothing lasts forever. So when it gave up the ghost I purchased the slightly larger LC1200. It, too, is now working flawlessly so far and no doubt will continue to give outstanding service and reliability into the far future. Tripp-Lite products are well-engineered and seem to last a lifetime. I would always consider Tripp-Lite as a first option for power backup and line conditioning. It's an investment in protection that makes sense.
