La malnutrition touche les enfants chaque année sur le territoire burkinabé. La lutte contre ce fléau constitue un défi majeur afin de réduire la mortalité infantile. La prise en charge des enfants touchés par la malnutrition aiguë, dans les Centres de Récupération et d'Education Nutritionnelle (CREN), est une des fortes recommandations faites par les institutions internationales concernées, pour endiguer le problème. Aussi, il est recommandé d'utiliser des aliments thérapeutiques prèts à l'emploi (ATPE) pour la prise en charge nutritionnelle des enfants malnutris. Cependant, une rupture des ATPE est régulièrement notée dans les CREN, au Burkina Faso. Ceci pousse les responsables des CREN à adapter les aliments locaux dans la prise en charge nutritionnelle. Toutefois, ces derniers donnent des résultats plus ou moins satisfaisants pour ce qui est du cas du CREN du CSPS Juvénat-Fille de Saint Camille à Ouagadougou
