Instructions
Prepare the Area Ensure the patient is in a comfortable position. Identify the site for venipuncture or injection, typically the forearm. Apply the Tourniquet Take one tourniquet from the pack. Stretch and wrap the tourniquet around the upper arm (about 3–4 inches above the intended needle site). Tie a quick-release loop or tuck the end to hold it in place. Check Tightness The tourniquet should be snug but not painful—tight enough to restrict venous blood flow without stopping arterial flow (you should still feel a pulse below the tourniquet). Perform the Procedure Proceed with the blood draw or injection as needed. Remove the Tourniquet Immediately after the procedure, untie or pull the tucked end to release the tourniquet. Dispose of the tourniquet in accordance with medical waste protocols—for single-use only.
