I love everything about this popcorn popper. I used to pop it in paper bags or other containers in the microwave, but there would be a lot of un-popped kernels (and burned pieces if I left it just a second too long). This machine quickly pops almost every kernel of corn into big fluffy pieces of popcorn, which I then coat with butter that I melt in a Pyrex measuring cup in the microwave. It's another machine to have to find a place for, but it's compact and lightweight, and it has a good place to wind the cord. If we pop the full 1/2 cup of popcorn (using the butter-melter cup provided on top), there might be just one or two un-popped kernels. We usually pop only about 1/4 cup, which leaves quite a few more un-popped, but nothing like doing it in the microwave. We never use the butter melter, which isn't large enough to melt much butter. Since it's an air popper, there's virtually nothing to clean -- just wipe it out with a dishcloth or paper towel, wind up the cord, and put it away. We paid a little more to get a nice color and to get a model that had an on/off button, but that was worth it. You plug it in, put your kernels in, then push the button. You have to be sure the "butter-melter/measuring cup" is in place before you push on, or kernels will come popping out the top. A few seconds later, popcorn starts pouring out the spout. Have a big bowl ready, because even 1/4 cup makes a lot of popcorn.
