This device worked beyond my expectations.
I connected my laptop to a flat screen TV using this device and an HDMI cable, selected the HDMI input on the flat screen TV and the mp4 movie I was playing on my laptop displayed on the flat screen, sound AND video. My apprehensions vanished.
