Fit 8 boxes of .40 ammo with ease and still had room for other items to keep everything together and to have less clutter -- perfect! I like the taller design to stand boxes up, so you can access what you got, without having to dig to get to the bottom. I didn't really care about the brass latch, but it is a nice tough, and it closes sturdily. Hope this helps and wish you good luck with it, as I know you will like it.
