Doesn't heat evenly compared to other brands

I thought I'd give this a try since the Sharp brand MW Dial I bought previously from Sam's Club lasted so long but aren't available anymore. To my surprised, this one heats unevenly or don't heat enough. It also continues to "stay on" upon end of timer, moreover, opening and shutting door doesn't stop it from operating. Seems like a defective product straight out of the box.
