Honeywell Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector

After my parents had a flood in their condo from a water softener that leaked causing extensive damage and weeks of costly repairs, I purchased two of these for my home - one for the laundry room on the main floor and one for the water heater and water softener in the basement. The next day I received an alert on my phone, and I thought perhaps there was an issue with the device. I was upstairs at the time so I went down to the basement where it indicated there was a problem. There actually was water on the floor! I immediately called a plumber to resolve the issue with our water pressure which had compromised the system. I never would have known about the problem if the device hadn't alerted me! Although it was a costly repair, it would have been far more costly to repair the water damage if the leak had continued!

Installation and setup is straight forward. However, there is no way to actually test the alarm/alert short of wetting the chord. There should be a test option within the app to trigger the alarm to hear it. Also, are notifications by email only? An audible alarm through the app on the phone should be essential, otherwise warnings/alerts are simply buried in email. These features may be available, digging through the poorly organized instructions did not reveal how to access them.
