Ordered it for the pandemic to cut my husband's hair. I've never cut his hair before. I watched a clip on the Today Show on how to cut men's hair and a post on Wiki How to explain it again. Start with the longest length cutters and work slowly, then change to shorter guides if needed. I would suggest don't let the previous hair cut done by a professional get to far gone, so you have a basic guide to reshape. After the haircut we are still married after 41 years of marriage and survived the first haircut that didn't turn out too bad at all. I have great respect for professional stylists. If you don't get a good result, hair grows, you'll get another chance to practice, and could be a good resason to wear your favorite hat. Put on your sunglasses, hat, and mask and no one will notice. One bit of advice, when you open the package the guards are labeled, but the info is hard to find in the directions. I labeled them and put them in ziplocks to put in the storage bag. Light gray are stubble guards, darker gray are beard guards, and black are hair guards. The extra light gray guard is for sideburns. I figure the trimmer will be paid for in 2 haircuts. Great deal!
