I bought this for my hamster but it wasn't able to use it. while assembly was easy, there are gaps on the corners of the squares that a hamster could fit out of, and were easily able to be pushed out of the way. you would definitely also need some sort of liner because there's nothing to stop pee, poop and food from reaching your floor through the gaps in the squares. The squares are also frosted instead of clear, but assembling it was extremely easy. I think this would work really well for a larger animal like a guinea pig, but it does not work for anything smaller than that. I wouldn't put any size of hamsters, gerbils, any sort of animal like that for fear of them being able to get out or chew their way out more easily.
