Acer Predator 17 G9-793-79V5 17.3" Notebook w/ Intel Core i7-7700HQ, 16GB DDR4 RAM, nVidia GTX 1070 8GB, 1TB HDD & 256GB SSD Windows Home

First off I hardly ever give 5 stars, the item needs to last or I need to feel I really got my moneys worth. On to the review. I got this laptop with the intent of it lasting me 5 years hopefully. The power this thing has in it is awesome! I max out just about every game I play and that's saying alot considering I play old games (Of course this thing's GTX 1070 WILL max that out), to new stuff that still maxes out. I can crank that graphics dial to "11" on this laptop and it's resolution of 1080p is no issue to me. The sound.....oh my the sound! I never thought I could find a laptop that could match my old MSI GT72-Dominator Pro's sound system. I was wrong. This matches and maybe exceeded it. Boot up and game loading is fast thanks to the SSD, though I should mention ACER did use the slower BUT still useful m-SATA slot type. The slot DOES support pci-e/NVME SSD's but I don't have much use for those. Real world the only time you need those speedy drives is for video editing, which this laptop could do also, but it's primary use is gaming. I actually upgraded my drives, I put a 1TB m-sata ssd in and a 1TB SSD in to replace the 1TB spinning drive and made this thing even more beastly! It did mean I had to re-install Windows but since the key was already tied to the laptop it was just a matter of selecting the right version. Easy peasy for me. I take this baby everywhere I go! Yes, it's a little heavy compared to the thin and light laptops, but those are MADE for portability, this is made for some serious gaming and while away from your house. What more could you ask for? I bought this laptop also when the mining craze was happening, the desktop version of the 1070 which may only outbeat the mobile version (this laptop) by 10% if that, seriously, look up comparisons. Cost like $600-$700 on it's own! Building a desktop was out of the question for the price of this laptop. After the SSD upgrades, which are optional I paid like $2,100 after taxes etc for this laptop, which if you ask me, was worth it since I can take this anywhere without compromises in gaming. Also of note is the Frostcore. This little item can be swapped into the dvd-rom drive bay for extra cooling of your gpu. Without it temperatures are good enough, with it, it helps, so I keep it in there since I don't really use optical media. Also due to the cooling, which the thin and lights usually lack this laptop is larger. It has a butt that juts out. Making it hard to fit into even a bag designed for 17" laptops. The only con I have to say is the ALWAYS Red "WASD" keys, I get that these keys are used most for pc games, but COME ON! This is an RGB backlit keyboard and it gets ruined by an always red set of keys. There is accent lighting also on the laptop, which you can't turn off, that would be nice if you could at least turn off the accent lighting, like the vertical bars and "Predator Logo" on the display lid, but that's not super annoying. Beyond that Acer really pulled something magical, at least I think, out of their hat. Kudos Acer! This review may be edited depending on life of the product.
