Works like a charm! Brought it into the Colorado mountains for a shakedown and while you do need to feed it fairly often with wood, I was impressed. Threw on a cast iron pan to cook a steak that came out perfect. Now a permanent part of my camping gear.

One important thing to remember is fill it and start a top down burn like the instructions say. You can get it going by starting a fire then adding more wood but it takes longer and is more difficult. That is kind of counter intuitive if like me you have made so many campfires you can do it without thinking. So I first tried it out with some apple wood chips I had leftover and I was impressed. I then used some smaller pieces of wood I had to cut and split from a larger log and was even more impressed although not with the work involved. Then I ordered some hardwood fuel pellets (not smoker pellets) and let me tell you that did it. Now I did get a longer burn with hard wood pieces but the fact all I needed to do was add pellets more than made up for it. Given the small size and work it takes to process stuff small enough the wood pellets more than make up for the expence. In fact doing the calculations I have paid more per fire places I had to buy wood in the campground. Now it will never be a roaring bonfire but I live in the south where that can get too hot even in winter. For the wife and I it is perfect for ambiance when we don't want a fire in our big fire pit. Now if there is a bad thing about it it is the "pot holders" as they are such where I am finding them too far apart for my smaller pots and pans especially my small percolator coffee pot. To solve this I simply got a 7" round heavy duty stainless steel cooling rack to use as a grate. Now I have not had a fire using it but it fits perfectly and my pot sits on top so I have no doubt it will make a couple good cups of coffee the first chili morning we have to sit out by the pond and fire it up.
