Ortega Mild Fire Roasted Whole Green Chiles, Kosher, 27 oz

These don't look at all like the photo which shows bright green fresh jalapeno peppers. I was disappointed. But after trying them they have found a new home in our kitchen. The peppers are long, pale green and flat, with a point on the tip. The recipe on the can is for making Chili Relleno. A local Mexican restaurant uses similar peppers for that dish, although most of them use Poblano peppers. These canned peppers appear to be Anaheim chili peppers. They're nearly mild with only a slight amount of hotness. They're less hot than some yellow banana ring peppers that I've had on subs. I took one pepper and sliced it in small rings. Great flavor! I'll be chopping some of these up for using like relish in sandwiches, and maybe as a side dish.
