Old-Fashioned or Common Purple Lilac will delight your senses when it bursts into bloom in mid to late spring. The lilac-purple flower panicles are very fragrant and will attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Each plant grows 8 to 15 feet tall and has a 6 to 12 foot spread. With its growth habit this large, deciduous shrub is ideal for planting in small groups or shrub borders, as well as a flowering hedge or privacy screen. Plant in well-drained soil and in an area with good air circulation. Each offer includes one plant grown in a 2.50 quart pot. For a hedge row, space plants 10 feet apart, and for a single planting space 12 feet apart. Grows up to 15 feet tall. Flowers with fragrant blooms in late spring. Hardy in USDA zones 3 to 7.
