I have recently quit eating sugar so a sugary soda didn't sound good to me. I was pleasantly surprised that this drink just has a hint of flavoring and isn't overpowering with sugar. It was a nice treat to have. I loved the cherry vanilla flavor. You could taste the cherry and it was refreshing. It did leave a little after taste though.
