Trace Memory is a great adventure game in the tradition of Myst and other puzzle solving adventurers. You will start out as a young teenage girl on her way to meet her father, who she has believed dead for years. In order to find him and unlock her repressed memories, you will have to explore the island and discover the truth of what has happened there. To do this you will use your DS touchscreen and microphone to explore the area and solve puzzles in order to advance.
The puzzles are really what this game is about. The story is engaging enough, but the gameplay itself lies in the puzzle solving. Most of the puzzles are intuitive and make use of the DS's touch screen and microphone. Others can be a bit frustrating and you will most likely need to look up help to solve them, but once you do, you can't help but appreciate just how cool the mechanics of the DS are. There aren't many of those situations, however, so the frustration is fairly minimal.
The game is fairly short, you can finish it in 5 hours, but still very engaging and enjoyable. The ending of the story wasn't quite as exciting or fun as it could have been, but it wrapped up the story well enough to give a sense of satisfaction.
Trace Memory is a great puzzle-solving adventure game with a good story line. If you're an adventure game fan, or like solving logic puzzles, you should like this game. If you've never played an adventure game such as this before, this is a great one to start out with as well.
