cleaning the tray the one where the metal fingers

unplug the unit, then replug the unit so that the tray where the metal finger go are facing you. you will notice that it's a bacteria trap, a nasty dark mess! first use a something a brush or another to break up that mess then use your spray feature on your kitchen sink to knock the rest loss, use hot water, filter out the water until clean. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS NEVER MENTIONED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS! DON'T FALL VICTIM TO BACTERIA IN YOUR ICE MAKER, CLEAN THIS WAY AFTER A VINEGAR CLEANUP, MONTHLY ;-P

Awesome!

After buying expensive refrigerator freezer with a lousy ice maker and running out of ice after two drinks, I had to do something. I contemplated purchasing a slightly cheaper one from big box store and then did a little research. I received this unit 2 days before Thanksgiving. I let it sit for 24 hours before plugging in, and then made ice until Thanksgiving dinner. It just kept producing batch after batch. I transferred into bin in freezer. The ice right out of the maker is a wonderful soft ice....as a lifetime ice eater, its a pleasure. Upon freezing it is hard and great for drinks! Believe me this is one heavy duty machine...very impressed!

Better than I expected

I have been wanting to get a portable Ice maker for a while. This is actually the third one I ordered. The first was discontinued and out of stock the second was lost in shipping site to store. This one was shipped to my home and was delivered when promised. We let it set for a few hours to get to room temp and to settle from shipping. Cleaned it and added water, in minutes it was making ice. Nine cubes a drop doesn't seem like much but when it drops every 7 minutes it accumulates quickly. More than enough for two people.
