I was somewhat skeptical at the bargain price, but as far as I can tell this starter is nearly identical to the original part. The only differences that I found are that the nut for the power cable stud needs a 14mm socket rather than the original 13mm, and the nut is steel, not brass. Also, I think that the alignment of the holes for the mounting bolts may be slightly different as one of the two bolts was a bit snug going back in. Other than that the size, weight, and layout are the same. The replacement unit seems to crank faster than the OEM model and my truck fires up with a vigor that I can't previously recall. VROOOM!!! While most YouTube videos show the starter being removed from the bottom of the vehicle, I found that it was easier to remove the right front wheel and the wheel well shroud and slip the starter out between the frame and the exhaust manifold heat shield. It's a tight fit either way. I coated the terminals with some anti-corrosion compound as my old starter didn't really fail, the electrical stud and cable connections simply corroded to the point where the resistance wouldn't allow enough current flow to run the starter. The plated steel nut on the electrical connection on the new starter is even more likely to corrode than the original brass nut, so beware and take the necessary precautions. Oh, and be sure that the end of the power cable is cleaned of any corrosion before reassembling. We'll see how I feel about this purchase over time, but for now it looks like I saved myself about $165 versus the cost of a rebuilt OEM starter.
