Prepared formula needs to be fed immediately after preparation or refrigerated within 1 hour after mixing. Prepared refrigerated formula must be used within 24 hours. After feeding begins, use the prepared formula within 1 hour, discard any leftover formula and do not re-use. Powdered formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to an infant diagnosed with immune problems unless directed and supervised by a healthcare professional. Ask your baby's doctor about the need to use cooled, boiled water for mixing and the need to boil (sterilize) bottles, nipples, and rings before use.
