does exactly what it says it does: goes from vga to dvi. i only wished they had other lengths like 8'.

Beware if your computer only has the DVI-D output because you most likely will not find an adapter or cable that will convert the DVI-D which is a digital output signal to work on a VGA only monitor which is an analog monitor. If you have the DVI-A receptacle on your computer you are in business. The A after DVI stands for analog while the D after DVI stands for digital. The analog receptacle can be recognized by its additional four small round female pins, two on each side of the wide spade female pin on one end of the receptacle. The digital receptacle does not have those additional four round pins so you will not plug in a DVI-A plug into the digital DVI-D receptacle. That said it appears to be a nice quality cable if you have the DVI-A receptacle for it to plug into.
