Like many cereal grains, Hard White winter wheat is a popularly broadcasted directly in early fall for for second year maturity, intended to overwinter and be harvested in the summer as 48-60 inch tall wheat crop. For a traditional garden harvest, sow 2-3 winter wheat seeds 1 inch deep and 2-3 inches apart in fertile, loamy, and well-drained garden soil in full sun. Non-GMO Hard White winter wheat seeds germinate in 4-10 days, with no thinning required. Triticum aestivum is a winter-hardy grain with no serious pests or diseases. If grown as a winter cover crop, mow crop before winter wheat begins to seed.
