Charlie Daniels is who I want to be when I grow up! I met Charlie in the spring of 1971 and at the age of 73 I'm still working on that "growing up" part. The fact of the matter is Charlie at 80 runs laps around me at the age of 73, or 63 or even 53! I know that to be true from 56 years of first hand experience. The picture of just who Charlie Daniels is became even clearer the years that I worked as Charlie's personal radio and record "Promo Man". From 1973 to 1988 much of my professional and personal life was focused on helping build his career. His recently released book of Memoirs contains stories I've heard him tell and memories I've helped him make. I'm happy to say now that I know the "rest of the story", growing up to be just like Charlie Daniels would still be OK with me.
