Days of Wonder Memoir '44 Game

I am glad to see Wal-Mart is finally selling games made by Days of Wonder. Every game I have bought from Days of Wonder has turned out to be an excellent product and loads of fun! Memoir '44 is no exception! The rules are very easy to understand and the rulebook is heavily illustrated and gives many examples of play. The game board and obsticles are very colorful. There are hundreds of different ways to set up the map to simulate various battles of WWII. The plastic squads and tanks are very good quality and when placed on the map, make the game come alive and look like a battlefield! The games are set up by placing the plastic squads, tanks and various obsticles and terrain onto the game board in a pre-defined scenario from the rulebook. Then each player recieves game cards that have "orders" written on them. Using the cards in their hand, the player uses the orders they have been dealt to try to obtain their victory goal. Usually the main goal is to eliminate a certain number of enemy units before your opponent does. Luck does have a bit of a role, though, as dice are used to determine a battle's outcome. I have played this game a lot with my older friends. My nephew always wants to play it with me when he visits! This game is an excellent choice to introduce younger players into a strategy game. It is really a great 2 player game for any family!
