I didn't realize you have to remove the lid in order to pour the boiling hot water, I have never had a teapot like this, usually you just push down on the handle or a button to open the spout to pour the boiling hot water. I just did not feel it was safe to pull off the tight lid in a glass pot with boiling hot water.
