I got these when I heard them recommended for iaido practice (which involves much knees on the floor). They work well for that. My size is at the top of the "L" range and they are pretty snug, so I might try an "XL," but these work. The first pair that arrived unfortunately turned out to contain an "L" and an "M," but McDavid processed a replacement very quickly

These are even better than I had hoped. Full knee coverage from all angles, nice and tight so it doesn't move. These pads do not breath well, which means your knees are nice and warm. I am recovering from a knee injury and because circulation to knees is not great, the heat from the pads was amazing.
