Great value and tasty with a good tea

Tasty good balance of flavors and decent price to number of cakes. I would recommend this version if you are interested in trying Jaffa Cakes or you are a returning fan. Soft cake with even chocolate flavor and a strong tart orange zing to round it all out. Ok now getting more specific. First the form. The box is kind of flimsy and by virtue of this having to be shipped that did mean the package was bangedup when I received it. The cakes in fine were perfectly in order. The softness and the twin packages inside plus the sturdy plastic they are sealed in offered enough pillow to prevent damage. Then as storage sitting on a shelf the box served its purpose. It would only barely be durable enough to throw the box in a bag. Then due to the Jaffa cakes form I would expect them to be a little rattled and some chocolate to fall off, but still overall in fine condition. Twenty cakes is a good number and I think with this quantity they are best enjoyed over many different sittings. I did open the sleeves and then put the remainder into a ziplock. It would be conceivable to take a sleeve from the box and then split them with another person over tea or at a picnic. The cakes themselves were softer than I was expecting. I know it says cakes, but they are definitely a sponge cake like base more so than a cookie. They are soft even the hardened chocolate ontop is soft. I think this is pleasant especially with tea. I have not had them with many other hot or cold beverages, but I would think anything that you could eat cookies with would be fine. More milk based is probably worse as the orange flavor is strong and would clash. The softness also initially lead me to believe there would be a blander quality to the flavor, but this was not the case. It is a strong clear flavor. The orange chocolate and cake work in concert each kind of having their moment. Choclate and cake leading and then the orange following behind. Aside from clarity I think the orange flavor is good because it is not artificial. It is strong based on its origin in being orange, not because it feels inflated by additives. Whether it is or not I am unsure, but it does feel like actual oranges were used and that flavor rings true to that.
