A piece of junk

I bought this item as a gift and am embarrassed with what happened when it was opened. It advertised that batteries were include. They were not. When we installed batteries as was,directed, there was the smell of hot platiic and the light worked for 2 seconds and then went out. Nit will not work now. I am now going to try to return this product.
