this is a great grater! the quality for the price is excellent. it grates cheese, carrots and other veggies nicely, and sits well on the counter or board and in bowls or on plates to catch the shreds. It can also slice things like limes and lemons or potatoes and other hard veggies.

Perfect for those who like to grate by hand.

I've had several cheese graters, potato slicers, zesters over the years. I prefer to grate by hand and I don't care for the crank and cylinder style graters. Tried them too. My last grater was flat with a slight curve to it, hinged with two sides. You've probably seen them. It broke after just a few usages. Prior to that I had a grater of the same style as this Mainstays grater. Worked just fine for years, but it was not stainless steel and eventually rusted. Otherwise I wouldn't have replaced it. Now this Mainstays grater is stainless steel and I hope to use it for many years to come.
