Mainstays Round Slow-Close Toilet Seat in White

I made 3 attempts with Mayfair (part of Bemis) brand over the 3 past weeks. I had to return each one for various issues, mainly with hinges. After 3 tries and returns I give up on Mayfair and I'm giving this MainStays brand a shot. For $19.99 it's a good price compared to the Mayfair returns where each one was between $32 and $35. So far the MainStays from Walmart is great value. The Slow close hinges work great, slow close on each moving part - the seat and the lid. Looks and feels just like wood although it is stated to be made of “rice husk”. Honestly Can't tell the difference… it feels, weighs, appears just like wood. Hinges are clip off type so should help with easy removal of the whole seat and lid assembly for cleaning time. What I like better with this one over the Mayfair returns is that under the seat where the seat touches the porcelain, the Mayfair brands that I had to return only had 2 support bumpers (1 on each side of the seat) and many reviews pointed to this being a weak point where the seat would crack in short time as it's made of MDF (particle board) and not actual wood. Lack of support bumpers and weak faux wood like MDF makes Mayfair inferior to this purchase of Mayfair. This one (MainStays) has 4 bumper supports under the seat meeting the porcelain so it's much sturdier weight distribution. This MainStays is not the “name brand” recognition of Mayfair or Bemis but seems better constructed with little detail like this. I have no idea how strong Rice Husk material is and how it will hold up over time but seems sturdy enough for a 6'6” guy at 240 lbs. First week of ownership makes a great impression so far and I would recommend this product based on 1 week of use so far. Time will tell how it holds up over time.
