Mainstays Cast Iron Skillet Oven Safe Pre-Seasoned Iron Black, 12 inch

  • Your cast iron cookware can be used on induction, ceramic, electric and gas cooktops, in your oven, on the grill, or even over the campfire. Do not use in the microwave
  • Note: Cookware handles get hot; use mitts. Use trivets to protect countertops from hot cookware
  • After first use let it cool and wipe it down with a clean dry cloth or paper towel. If you prefer to use soap, then wash with mild soapy water and dry thoroughly and oil (season) immediately
  • Note: Acidic foods like tomatoes, beans, and certain sauces can damage seasoning finish and should be avoided until the seasoning is well-established
  • Note: Cast Iron rarely needs to go above a medium heat setting when properly pre-heated. For the times when you do cook at higher temperatures, bring the pan to temperature gradually and add oil to it just before adding food to prevent sticking
  • Note: Use metal, wood, or hi-temp silicone utensils
  • Note: Some foods may stick to new cookware (especially eggs). Use a little extra oil or butter until you've built up the seasoning on your cast iron cookware
  • Note: Dishwashers, strong detergents and metal scouring pads are not recommended, as they remove seasoning
  • Note: On glass or ceramic cooktops, lift cookware; never slide it

I love these cast iron cookware. I was raised on Teflon and we were constantly tossing the pans away. I have a lot of experience cooking with both types. I mourn all the money I spent buying teflon skillets. Because honestly teflon does not last long and food always sticks. With Cast Iron you only have to buy once because even rusted up really bad you can clean the skillet and season it and regardless how pitted the skillet is food does not stick! I like that eating food out of an iron skillet gives you trace mineral amounts of iron.

Nothing Like a Good Frying Pan

This is a great buy. $12. It comes pre-seasoned. It does take some pampering but it's worth it. (By pampering I mean don't put it in the diswasher, don't let it soak, dry it immediately to prevent rusting, and oil it after using for the first few uses.) The first thing I cooked in it was a NY strip steak. Four minutes on one side, 4 minutes on the other. Perfection with grill-like taste. Eggs taste much better too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

just as good as "name" brands

I can honestly cook in this new "in house" cast iron pan or my Lodge of the same size and not notice any differences, except the difference in price that I paid for them. Would definitely recommend.
