  • Careful Handling Notes: When using on glass or ceramic cooktops, lift the skillet instead of sliding it, and always use mitts as handles get hot.

Nothing Like a Good Frying Pan

This is a great buy. $12. It comes pre-seasoned. It does take some pampering but it's worth it. (By pampering I mean don't put it in the diswasher, don't let it soak, dry it immediately to prevent rusting, and oil it after using for the first few uses.) The first thing I cooked in it was a NY strip steak. Four minutes on one side, 4 minutes on the other. Perfection with grill-like taste. Eggs taste much better too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I love these cast iron cookware. I was raised on Teflon and we were constantly tossing the pans away. I have a lot of experience cooking with both types. I mourn all the money I spent buying teflon skillets. Because honestly teflon does not last long and food always sticks. With Cast Iron you only have to buy once because even rusted up really bad you can clean the skillet and season it and regardless how pitted the skillet is food does not stick! I like that eating food out of an iron skillet gives you trace mineral amounts of iron.

Must season again!

I really like this cast iron skillet. Great price but you need to season yourself. I used tallow. Heat pan and oven to 350 degrees. Be careful taking out of oven. I used a paper towel and wiped the tallow all over and then put back in oven upside down with a foil lined tray underneath, for 1 hour. Checked for complete coverage and I did the spots I missed and did it again. Do not clop on. Once cooled you can now rinse with water but don't use soap and reseason after a handful of uses.
