Myrtle, known as Myrtus Communis, Common Myrtle or True Myrtle, is a charming evergreen shrub that has been cherished for centuries for its aromatic foliage and delicate flowers. The dense foliage consists of small, lance-shaped leaves that exude a distinctive fragrance when crushed. The leaves are glossy and deep green, providing an elegant backdrop to the plant's petite, star-shaped white flowers. Myrtle has cultural and historical significance in many societies and is often associated with love, marriage, and celebration. This plant is an air-purifier, it absorbs harmful substances from the indoor air, which improves mood and removes stress after hard working day. The plant thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in the morning, but prolonged exposure to intense sunlight should be avoided. Water the plant with approximately 1 glass of room temperature water when the top few inches of soil seem to be on drier side to the touch (about two-three times a week in summer, and the rest of the year it should be a bit less). Don’t let the plant sit in soggy soil. Myrtle is shipped in 4” pot. The plant prefers moderate to high level of air humidity. Myrtle must be watered systematically, and moistened with a sprayer. It doesn’t stand drafts, which have negative effect on the plant. Feed the plant during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2-4 weeks. The height of the plant shipped varies from 14” to 16” which is measured from the bottom of the pot to the very top of the plant. The width of the plant is between 6” to 8”. The repotting of the plant is made once in a few years in the early spring, since the soil can lose all its useful properties during this time.
