Junghans used to manufacture control panel timing instruments for airplanes and airships which ultimately led to devising a legendary pilot's chronograph for the German Armed Forces in the 1950s, the Bundeswehr-Chronograph. A series under Junghan's Meister collection, the Pilot Chronoscope was a product of the brand's expertise combined with a century of enthusiasm for aviation. This Pilot Chronoscope Navy Blue USA is a limited edition of only 50 pieces and a U.S.A. exclusive release adorning the flag's blue, red, and white accents. It features a 43.3 mm black DLC-coated stainless steel case with a navy blue dial that has a lacquered effect under a scratch-resistant domed sapphire crystal. It has black and luminescent sword hands with indices and Arabic numerals as hour markers. Surrounding it is a bi-directional rotating bezel with a 60-minute scale and its characteristic 12 concave notches provide exceptional grip and a unique look. This is complemented by 2 chronograph subdials (60 secs. & 30 mins.), central chronograph seconds hand, crown, pump-style pushers at the 2 and 4 o'clock positions, and dial letterings for Junghans/USA Edition. It is fitted with a matching navy blue leather strap and secured with a black DLC-coated steel signed buckle. The solid case back is held by 7 screws and engraved with an image of a US Airforce P-40 Warhawk. The case back also features the limited edition number and encases the caliber J880.4, an automatic chronograph movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour generating up to 38 hours of power reserve and is water resistant up to 100 meters/330 feet.
