Review for WF 7840 - I considered going with a different brand printer this time around because I wanted a laser printer thinking that the colors would be more vibrant. I think with new developments the ink jets have come a ways. So I stayed with an Epson because I can't get all of the other options that these Epson printers have in another printer. And certainly not for this price. I could only find one and it was around $600.00 more. I had a WF 7620 the last time. It worked well for maybe 6 years but then slowly I felt the print quality decreased and then I lost the colors completely till it would only print black. It still runs fine otherwise so I gave it to my son. Hey maybe it could be fixed but I wanted better color print quality anyway. I was a little concerned how this WF 7840 would print from a Windows 7 PC. I have a newer Windows with the laptop I use in my upstairs office. I had to putter with it some but then I shut the main PC off and rebooted and it works great. What I love even more is that the old printer ceased to pick up the wireless network from my upstairs laptop but this new one picks it up fine. This is actually the 3rd Epson printer that I've had. I choose them because they do seem to at least run for a number of years AND I have to have the 11 x 17 paper size option for my draft work. An extra plus is that the scan bed is also 11 x 17 which most other printers that print 11 x 17 have only an 8.5 x 11 size scan bed. The black printing is very crisp. I haven't tried printing anything colorful yet. It will be interesting to see how things come out.
