Learning Resources Jumbo Forest Animals - Fine Motor Skills for Children , Ages 3+

Our daughter was very excited about the educational figurines in the set of "Jumbo Forest Animals" from the Learning Resources company and is having a great time with her creative play. Like almost all children, she very much enjoys imaginative playing with dolls and animal figurines, and she is enjoying these forest models very much (especially the fox!). They are "jumbo," and larger than most animals figures that I have seen available elsewhere. The shape is clearly designed to be natural and accurate, as the musculature and shape of the animals coats/feathers is quite realistic. They are painted carefully, also, and are not cheap figures, as the plastics are heavy, and the figures themselves are quite solid; I think that each figure should last for years of play and learning (see video). These would be especially appropriate for classroom use, or even in a natural history museum's children's area, as they provide concrete learning opportunities to explain the specific animal's roles in the North American ecosystem. They would also work well in a diorama or other science fair display or project. And meanwhile, our daughter is really enjoying her own little woodland adventures with the help of her imagination and her new forest friends.
