I purchased this to use in a large dog crate in which I am housing two semi-feral older kittens while they are being socialized. I had started with a regular water bowl which just stayed on the crate floor but, as kittens in particular will do, they started pushing the bowl around, flipping things into it, or knocking it over, making a mess while depriving themselves of water until I came back and refilled it. The thumbscrews and pressure plates made this bowl really easy to install at exactly the optimal height -- not too high, since they still have short legs, but off the floor so it was a lot harder for them to put foreign objects into it. And, the bowl holder itself is tight enough that the kittens can't remove the bowl from it. Now, when I come back after several hours, there is still clean water in the bowl!
