I needed narrow storage for weight bars and exercise DVDs and this unit was the perfect solution and the solid piece I was looking for. While not solid wood, it is not made of the cheaper particle board you find on some other brands out there either. The material is smooth and has the weight of a real wood unit. However, when they say hammer the pegs for the facing in halfway, they mean it. I got overzealous with the hammer on the first peg and drove it through the other side. I was very grateful to the patient Prepac customer service representative who resisted the urge to snicker when I told her what I did and instead graciously sent me the replacement part instead.
