Actually plays tunes when connected!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids have been and always will be huge fans of LEGOs, just as I was when I was younger. The Dixie Kong's Jungle Jam is an adorable expansion set that is part of the Super Mario LEGO Collection. There are 174 LEGO pieces that connect to form a stage, including tiny musical instruments for Dixie Kong and Squawks. There are steel drums, a guitar, and even a tiny microphone! My favorite part is the string of lights that cross the entire stage! Another great aspect is that LEGO is actively trying to switch from plastic packaging to paper, and this is the segue. The outer box is cardboard and the inner pieces are in individualized plastic packaging. The stage of this set connects to the larger Starter Course. Once it's all connected with one of the protagonists in center stage, you can rotate LEGO Mario, LEGO Luigi, or LEGO Peach to activate and play actual musical numbers!
