[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As an adult who's childhood was filled with Lego, it was nostalgic and joyous to have it back in my hands, after my hiatus apart from it as a busy adult. And what a introduction back it was! This fantastic fantasy filled kit, "The Never Witch's Midnight Raven", kit number 71478, is based on the popular Lego DREAMZzz TV series. With its characters made into mini figures and scenes from the show brought to life as you build, its a great buy for any fan, or indeed, like myself, a stranger to the show. I throughly enjoyed every element of this intricate, mystical and magical fantasy build, and I know for any Lego connoisseur this kit will rate incredibly highly with them. Containing 1203 pieces of high quality, cleverly engineered, well put together, colour filled imagination, it really is nothing short of magical. Gone are the primary coloured bricks of Lego I remembered from 30 years ago, and in are varied pieces of unique shapes, styles and colours. Sparkly, metallic, iridescent, fluorescent, bold and brightly coloured pieces laid before me. I couldn't wait to get started. As with all the kits in the DREAMZzz range, each can make one main build and at least one other alternative build. The main build for this set is a beautiful raven with a house and cauldron set upon its back. The alternative is the raven with a separate cauldron spider, and a whimsical little house on chicken-esque legs. I decided to do the alternative build as the Baba Yaga style house on legs appealed deeply to my soul. The set is broken down into sections which are divided out into numerically marked bags. Making it easy to follow along with the instructional picture booklet included. The booklet is clear, concise and easy to follow. A 9 year old (the recommended youngest age for this kit), could easily follow along and understand without the need for adult intervention. It has the added bonus of full picture pages, which seem to correspond with the episode from which this set is inspired by, telling the story as the build progresses. I took my time with this build and did a hour or two each day, over the course of 3 days. It could certainly be done quicker, but i enjoyed building it at my own pace. The finishing pieces were strikingly beautiful and very impressive. The raven with a host of movable and posable parts, wings, individual feathers, tail and beak, really bring it to life. The iridescent pink wings, the deep purple accents, and bright little yellow eyes, add character and a personality that is palpable. It has a little hatch door on its back which opens to reveal a dungeon area filled with details and a space to stand a captured mini figure in. It's a great size piece which has a impressive impact and looks marvellous on display. The colourful cauldron spider has moving legs, fangs and a abdomen that opens to reveal two doom domes, in which I believe is where the characters store captured memories. It is colourfully creepy and adds to the feel of the overall set of three. Now for my favourite, the magical Baba Yaga like house, on its chicken-esque legs with its wonky but totally perfect chimney. I absolutely adore it. I will have it on display indefinitely. It's so mystical, thought inducing, and incredibly well put together. It's a story in itself. The roof and door open to show the interior. A interior filled with trinket lined shelfs, plants and flowers, and a magical, almost glowing crystal, which sits mysteriously in the corner. The details are incredible, it's so pleasing to the eye, and the play possibilities are endless. Five mini figures are included in the set. All are, of course, characters from the show, and all have perfected tiny details which add to their overall appearance. Four out of five of them have double expression heads, which can be turned accordingly to display your choosen face. The details on these mini figures and their accessories are honestly next level. From the moving wheels of the rocket powered wheelchair, to the tattered material "skirt" of another, and the teeny, tiny Z-blob companion one carries with him, are all made and designed to perfection. Overall I rate this kit a perfect 10/10. Fun for adults and children alike. Perfect for imaginative play and skill building. Great for the choice of either honing independence or as a collaborative effort amongst family/friends. A never ending source of rebuildable, story telling and play. All important aspects of childhood development. As an adult, it was a relaxing and welcoming distraction to the daily grind. A fascinating eye opener into this new era of Lego. My old childhood favourite rekindled into a new hobby. And just like that, with one perfectly magical kit, my love of Lego has been reignited.

The packaging was very appealing to the eye and the different Lego steps were easily put in bags that were numbered. The booklet was clear and had an easy step by step guide. Definitely worth the money and it is huge.
