Krylon Short Cuts 1/3 Fl Oz Gold Leaf Gloss Paint Pen SCP-901

Bought the gold leafing pen. The 1st time I used it, a couple of months ago, I LOVED the results. Just gold leafed a very small item. Just went to use it again and the tip is hard as a rock and the paint is not coming out even after vigorous shaking. Is this typical?

Purchased this to mark dark wood flooring that needed trimmed back from the drywall for trim fitment during a remodel. Tip was very loose when I first uncapped it. Every time I would make a mark I had to put the tip back in because it would fall out. Had it fall out and roll under the wall out of reach. I took it back to the local hardware store I got it from and they replaced it no questions asked. Very happy with the store but not so much with the quality of this product. Have used this brand for years with no issues so quality control must be getting very lax.
