It's everything I expect I turned it on to in sure all parts move but I haven't gotten to actually use it yet. After watching the DVD I was even more excited just by all that the machine is capable of doing. God willing this weekend I'm going to fire her up and dive right in. I bought this for my granddaughters 12th birthday and had it shipped so I have not used it myself. She was very excited to have her own and with so many more stitches than the one she had to share with her older cousin! MY FIRST MACHINE WAS A BROTHER AND LOVED IT! I was afraid of the whole idea of a "computerized" sewing machine. I grew up in home ec classes where there was no such thing as a computer being anywhere other than a library resource and on a huge desk. But this machine actually wasnt as intimating as I thought it would be....everything is with picture cues to help the process....even the way to thread the machine and the bobbin down to how to select the stitch....the machine helped be successful with a donation of 15 personalized surgical caps to a medical location in my location. I am satisfied with that alone and still look forward to many other creations. It came with a DVD instruction but I do not own a DVD player, therefore, I truly am grateful of the success and satisfied with Brother By my Side.
