Feeding Instructions
When introducing a new food to your Cockatiel, start slowly and give your bird time to adjust. Begin with a mix of Kaytee Exact Rainbow Cockatiel food and your bird's old food, gradually increasing the new food (and reducing the old) over 7 to 10 days. This will help minimize dietary upset and allow your pet to adjust as the switch is made. Use the feeding amounts on the package as a guide. You may need to adjust the portions if you have multiple birds or need to help your bird maintain a weight recommended by your veterinarian. Fresh water should be available at all times, and uneaten food should be discarded and the food bowl cleaned between feedings to ensure the freshest, most delicious food and the healthiest Cockatiel. Feed 1/4 cup daily. Feed Exact Rainbow food every day in a clean food cup. Adjust to the bird's actual needs and spillage. Provide a clean, fresh supply of water daily. After 21 days feed exact food only - your bird should be completely converted. Observe your bird closely to ensure it is eating exact food and not searching for its old food. A color change in the droppings (to a brown or reddish-brown color) should be evident with successful conversion. Conversion time may vary.
