After reading several reviews and learning that the new Kitchen Aid Wire Whip is not made with same materials, I decided to buy this one and I am glad I did. The piece holding all the wires together appears to be steel/firm and strong and the part works well in my Kitchen Aid mixer. This is a good value, great price and I am glad I found it. It does not seem likely that the spines will come apart.
