Great sesnsitivity, well made

I'm very happy with this antenna. It is solid and well made. The sensitivity is much better than the antenna I replaced and signal reports have improved.

Never been disappointed with K40 Brand.

My first K-30. Expecting good ears and reach. Ive used K40 versions extensively, but decided to give the K-30 a try. The price was a deciding factor. Considered the Wilson Lil' Will, but it was too expensive comparatively. Won't deny however, Wilson makes good antennas. But I've always had fantastic experience with K40 as a brand. When the antenna is eventually set up and tuned, I promise to give a better report.

I have a K30 on both my 95 Ranger and 2006 Sierra. This is a good size for a casual radio user. Transmit and receive are adequate, especially for the compact size. These can be pulled off and stashed on the back seat or in a trunk, if necessary. A friend told me I was transmitting better with a K30 and an old Radio Shack cb radio in my Ranger, than I was from the setup in my big rig! These are American made, unlike the competitors, though the K40 company was purchased by the same Chinese company that owns and makes Wilson and others. You will probably need to shorten a little bit. Use some mini bolt cutters, and 1/4 inch increments, while checking the SWR meter. Try to park away from any objects, especially metal ones. Both times I tuned, channel 40 had high SWR, indicating the antenna was too long. With a clean cut, the whip will slide back into the base to be tightened with the supplied Allen wrench. I may have made several cuts on each antenna, but cut small pieces off and check for SWR on 40 to come down to same as on 1! If too much is cut off, the whip is ruined. If you don't use an SWR meter to incrementally shorten the whip to tuned length, you may burn up the radio, and have poor or no transmit. You will always be able to receive further than you can transmit. That is normal. CB radio operates in a Shortwave radio band. NO plug and play antennas on cb radio! Enjoy the valuable and time tested communication method of citizen's band radio. It has saved time, accidents, and many lives, and has an enviable safety record. It is also a lot of fun. The weakest links in any magnet mount antenna are where the co-ax enters the magnet base, and at the PL259 connector on the end that connects to the radio. If you can keep the stress off those locations, you will get many years of service, just as I have.
