A smart investment.

I always equip all my vehicles, whether brand-new or pre-owned, with K&N filters, typically air and cabin ones. If available, I often buy oil filters as well. I got started on this brand of filters with air filters because you'll never have to buy another as well as because one can tell the difference in how that engine breathes from minute one after installing the air filter. The quality is superb and the dollar investment will pay off for the life of the vehicle.
