I customize this to make the perfect indoor enclosed cat bed that my cats use everyday. I remove the heating element and pad from the Mod Thermo-Kitty Shelter and replace it with this Thermo-pet pad which fits the floor space perfectly and seems more comfortable for indoor cats. I also replace the 6 watt heating element with a 4 watt one, placing it at the back end of the bed. That way my cats can either lay on the heat or off the heat without having to leave the Mod Themo-Kitty Shelter. I have one for each of my four cats and they love it. Would be nice if this version was made for sale, but it might not work for all cat people. It does work for my group. About the 6 watt heating element being smaller than the outside pad; I don't find this a problem. I do have these Thermo-Pet Pads also just lying on the floor or a dresser top with the original 6 watt heating element in them. My cats will lay on the center of the heat pad when they want more heat or they will lay to the side or part way off the pad when they want less heat. A heating element is available as a separate buy if you want the entire bed to heat, but I find that a bit of an overkill for small pets. To me, this is a wonderful product. It just all depends on what you are looking for.
